Le Design en Voyage exhibition for IDE at Cite du design, Saint-Etienne in France
Five years after the Ceramic & Food Route began, International Design Expeditions shared its journey with the public. The Cité du design hosted a large exhibition with about 150 objects created through meetings, workshops, and performances in five countries: Italy, Cambodia, Sweden, Poland, and France.
These objects showed a new style, mixing food traditions, local skills, and the ideas of international designers who took part in the trips.
The exhibition design, developed by the curators Mathide Bretillot, Pierangelo Caramia and MML studio was made to feel like a journey. At the center was a 25-meter “Grande Table” showing objects from the expeditions. Around it, five pavilions—one for each country—let visitors experience different places.
Each pavilion shared personal stories, ideas, and research from the trips. At the end, a workshop area gave visitors more time to explore through books, tablets, and short films about design and food culture.
